The thickness of the metal, and the back-pressure that these whistles have allows you that extra level of breath control, and it thickens the sound somewhat. The Compass has a bit more of that breathiness that you’d get with maybe say the original Clarke whistle, but it’s as efficient [as the John Sindt]. It’s got a nice bit of brightness to it. Good volume at the lower octave, and a lot of punch. You can really rip some of those notes outta there! It’s got a good consistent air flow between the two octaves. Sounds great, looks nice!
